Cannon Beach Oregon

Explore Cannon Beach,Oregon. The town is named for the cannon that washed ashore from a shipwrecked schooner (hence Schooner’s Cove Inn) in 1846. Cannon Beach is one of the most popular destinations on the Oregon Coast due to its sandy beaches and scenery.

Haystack Rock

Haystack Rock is one of Oregon’s most recognizable landmarks and is one of the many things that makes Cannon Beach so special. It rises 235 feet from the edge of the shoreline. At low tide, you can walk right up to it and find colorful sea stars and other fascinating creatures. Puffins can be observed on Haystack Rock from early spring to mid-summer. In the summer months, there are interpretive guides to help visitors appreciate the large variety of sea life.

Ecola State Park

Wrapping around Tillamook Head, between Seaside and Cannon Beach the park stretches along 9 miles of coastline. Visitors will enjoy picnicking, tidepooling, surfing, and amazing wildlife. Sightseeing opportunities begin the moment you enter the park. The entrance road meanders through a lush Sitka spruce forest, eventually opening up to a grassy bluff offering breathtaking views of the Pacific Ocean.
